Sister Dominic Haug, 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at the Dominican Sisters’ Infirmary in Great Bend, Kan. Born July 22,1933 in Seneca, Kan. as Marlene Dolores Haug, Sister Dominic was the daughter of Omer and Lucile (Noll) Haug.
She entered the Dominican Sisters on Sept. 1, 1955, and pronounced her first vows June 13, 1958. She celebrated 65 years of religious profession in 2023.
Sr. Dominic devoted her ministerial career to nursing serving in Great Bend and Vredenberg, Ala.. She taught nursing at the Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend. In 1982, she founded the Golden Belt Home Health Service in Great Bend. She moved to Pastoral Care in 1997 serving at St. Joseph Senior Community in Manhattan, Kan. She moved to the Convent in 2011 after suffering a stroke.
Sister Dominic is survived by her Dominican Sisters of Peace Community; one brother, Michael (Betty) Haug of Seneca; sisters, Jeanne (Tom) Heiman of Wichita, Mary Haug of Centralia, Regina (Ed) Aldrine of Topeka, Cathy Wynkoop of Topeka; and many nieces and nephews.
Sr. Dominic’s body will be brought to the Dominican Chapel of the Plains, 3600 Broadway, Great Bend, on Monday, Dec. 9th, 2024, at 4 p.m., with Vigil Service at 7 p.m., where she will then lie in state until the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10th, 2024.
