Lower your risk of breast cancer 

Breast cancer is the second most prevalent type of cancer that affects women, just behind skin cancer. In this session, we will identify risk factors for developing breast cancer, discuss lifestyle choices that reduce the risk of breast cancer, and gain a better understanding of early detection.

Speaker: Karissa Winkel, Family and Community Wellness Agent for K-State and Extension – Cottonwood District; noon on Wednesday Oct. 16 at the Activity Center; ages 18 and up. 


Halloween Canvas

Let your creativity help you create this Halloween Canvas. Then you can either decorate your room with it or give it to someone that may need a spookiness in their life.

Kindergarten through 6th grade, 3:30-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Jefferson Elementary School 


 

BCC STEM Kids Day Out

We have a STEM of a morning awaiting you at Barton Community College. Staff from the STEM Department have a number of fun activities planned. 

Then it’s back to the GB Rec Activity Center for pizza and beverages. The afternoon will be spent at the Activity Center doing some crafts and other organized activities.

Parents: Please drop off your child and pick them up at the Rec Activity Center, 2715 18th St. Students will be bused by USD 428. Partial scholarships are available. Please let us know if your child has any food allergies.

Deadline to enroll is Tuesday, October 15.

1st-6th grade, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 at the Activity Center 


 

Wall Hanging and Cookie Plates

We will make a decorative plate for your favorite holiday and make a circular wall hanging too.

16 years and up, 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Recreation Center


Basketball Drills & Skills

Enjoy an after-school program for anyone who loves to play and wants to improve their basketball skills. This class will include a number of fun and different basketball games and drills designed to help improve any skill level of player.

5-6 grade, 3:45 to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday - Oct. 14-28, at the Activity Center

3-4 grade, 3:45 to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday - Nov. 11-25 at the Activity Center


Painting Pumpkins

We have pumpkins and paint. You bring the creativity to paint a pumpkin for Halloween.

K-6, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday - Oct. 15 at Jefferson School

K-6, 3:30-5 p.m., Wednesday - Oct. 16 at Lincoln School

K-6, 3:30-5 p.m., Thursday - Oct. 17 at Eisenhower School


Baby-sitting 101      

This course gives participants the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for toddlers through school-aged children. Topics include safety issues, preventing injuries and illness, basic childcare, and age-appropriate activities to do with children. Students will also learn how to make a snack for kids. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 15th. Participants must be 11 by the class date.

Fifth grade through Freshmen, 1-5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 at Cottonwood Extension Office, 3007 10th.
