Cardinals win Ellsworth track meet

ELLSWORTH — Hoisington double winner Xavier Robinson captured the 200 meters (23.66) and triple jump (44-41/2) and finished runner-up in the long jump (21-6) and on the 400-meter relay (45.25) to lead the Cardinals to first place at Tuesday’s Ellsworth Track Invitational. Hoisington scored 99 points and Hays-Thomas More Prep placed second (89).

Running with Robinson were Cade Mason, Wyatt Pedigo and Chase Robinson.

“The Hoisington boys and girls teams had outstanding performances,” said Hoisington coach Dan Schmidt. “We had a ton of excellent performances by different kids. Xavier Robinson was outstanding again.”

Maleigha Schmidt captured first with a season best in the pole vault (10-6) and javelin (109-113/4). Pole vault runner-up Jessi Kindscher cleared 10-0 for a personal best effort.

Hoisington’s Wyatt Pedigo earned a runner-up finish in the 100 (11.48).
