CUNNINGHAM 70, PAWNEE HEIGHTS 6

CUNNINGHAM – Pawnee Heights Tiger Leighton Munk delivered a highlight with a 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against defending 6-man state football champion Cunningham. Munk escaped from Stephen Kerschen’s tackle attempt for the score.

Munk’s touchdown was the first score against the Wildcats since week 1. Cunningham had outscored its last nine opponents 507-0 when Munk scored. The Tigers (7-4) lost 52-0 to Cunningham when they met the first time.

Cunningham quarterback Will Wegerer threw for four touchdowns. Luke McGuire scored on a 16-yard pass and 20-yard run.

Dylan Halderson returned interceptions 14- and 34 yards for touchdowns and added a 25-yard scoring pass from Wegerer. Luke Albers scored on a 23-yard interception. Trent Schnittker and Stephen Kerschen scored on touchdown passes.

Cunningham (9-1) meets Tescott (7-2) in next week’s 6-man semifinals after beating them 50-0 during District play.
