STAFFORD – St. John outscored Stafford 16-9 in the fourth quarter to edge the Trojans 41-35 in Friday's non-league basketball game.

St. John (1-0) featured seven players scoring led by Jace Reyes (8) and Quade Smith (7). The Tigers earned the victory with terrific defense. St. John mafe five 3-pointers, converted 4 of 13 free throws and shot 29% from the field.

Stafford (0-1) was paced by Jimi Oleson, Sam Lowther and Brody Kerschenske with nine points apiece.

St. John plays at Larned's Gene Keady Classic. Stafford plays Otis-Bison at Monday's Langdon Fairfield Classic.

St. John's won the girls game 69-15.

STAFFORD – St. John's 6-foot-2 Lydia Reed dominated inside with 18 points to spark the Tigers past Stafford 69-15 in Friday's non-league basketball game. Tigers Mia Meyer (14) and Heidi Fisher (11) scored in double figures.

Stafford's Taylor Denio scored five points and Emily Delgadillo added four points.
