ATTICA 70, ST. JOHN 20

ATTICA — The underdog St. John Tigers led Attica-Argonia 20-14 by scoring three touchdowns in the 8-Man Division 1 football playoff game. The Titans (7-2) scored 56 consecutive points for a 70-20 victory over the Tigers (4-5).

St. John quarterback Braxton Alpers ignited a inspiring start with 1- ad 36-yard touchdown runs. Jace Reyes added a 1-yard touchdown and a conversion for a 20-14 lead. Alpers's best play was a scrambling first down run that broke several Titan tackles.

But the Titans swung the momentum with three touchdowns in the final five minutes of the first half. The Titans blocked a punt and the Tigers lost 22 yards on a poor snap on the next punt to set up a short field.

Carson Vineyard scored on a 2-yard run. Mac Harnden and Vineyard scored on pass receptions from Maddex Hemberger for a 37-20 halftime lead. Harnden caught a 42-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half. Hemberger threw four touchdown passes and scored a rushing touchdown.

St. John's Aden Adame delivered the game's rarest play when he caught an extra-point kick in midair by the Titans' Brody Bernsten.
