GARDEN CITY – Great Bend defeated Colby 21-25, 25-22, 22-19 and Liberal 25-14, 25-17 before losing to Western Athletic Conference champion Garden City 25-17, 25-16.

COLBY MATCH
“We started pretty ugly, first set hitters,” Perry said. “After that we really started rolling. OH Olivia Urban led our offense with eight kills. Sophomore Oliva Mull and Senior Sidney Meitner were good on the front row. Defensively, Libero Beck along with Freshmen DS Sydney Unruh combined for 21 digs. Having them together in the back row is a big positive for our team. They read the hitters well and are already clicking together. “

LIBERAL MATCH
“Against Liberal we got up quickly and never looked back. We looked really good all the way around,” Perry said. “Jenna Mauler returns as a sophomore who led our team in aces this year. She can change a game quickly with her ability to mix up zones.”

GARDEN
CITY MATCH
“We knew that we had to limit or errors, serve aggressively, and make them make mistakes,” Perry said. “Garden City is tall and present a big front row. We played well, we competed. All summer, we talked about having to play bigger than our opponents since we are a small team. To be tested tonight was good for us. This group’s chemistry is outstanding. They get along so well and are developing that trust on the court. It was a good first night for the Panthers. We will head to Dodge City on Tuesday.”
