Panther netters place third

Great Bend’s No. 1 singles Paige Stacey (3-1) placed third with an 8-4 victory over Hoisington’s Claire Crutcher in Saturday’s Great Bend Tournament at Shannon Schartz courts.

Ellinwood’s No. 1 doubles Grace Sturtz/Mahra Johnston (3-1) lost a championship tiebreaker 8-7 (7-3) to Garden City’s Jocelyn Kennedy/Chloe Ptacek.

Hoisington’s No. 2 singles Reese Merlau (2-2) lost by default to Dodge City’s Valeria Reyes for third place.

Great Bend’s No. 2 doubles Mackenzie LaViolette/Beth Hammeke (2-2) placed fourth with an 8-3 setnack to Liberal’s Seare Uribe/Giselle Mesta.

Defending Western Athletic Conference champion Garden City (67) placed first. Great Bend (33) finished third and Hoisington (25) placed sixth.
