Liberal's soccer team rolled into town and proved the quality of the Western Athletic Conference with a dominating 6-0 victory over Great Bend.

Liberal's Suain Moncayo scored three goals and Joseph Salazar, D’Alessandro Chavira and Giezi Gonzalez added first-half goals. Gonzales provided two assists and Aron Duque and Juan Garcia added assists.

Liberal (3-0, 1-0 WAC) led 6-0 at halftime.

"We didn’t adjust the first half against Liberal's heavy attack," said Great Bend coach Chuy Loera. "We left guys open in the midfield and they connected  passes. Liberal is a really good team. We’ll do better next time."

The Panthers' defense shut out the Redskins after halftime.

"We created adjustments and stuck to our game plan after halftime," Loera said. "The second half was a better way to end the game. It’s competitive in the WAC."

The Panthers start the Salina South soccer tournament against St Marys Tuesday with bracket games to follow Sept. 12 and 14.
