Panther golf places seventh at Hays.

Great Bend freshman Xali Arias tied a school record with six goals to spark a 10-2 soccer victory over the Wichita Warriors Thursday at Cavanaugh Field.

Arias tied the Panthers' school record shared by Jillian Reimer (2023) and Yesenia Garcia (2007).

Also scoring goals were Reimer,  Yesenia Pulido, Teegan Guerra and Samantha Escobedo.

Natalia Rodriguez delivered two assists. Also providing assists were Guerra, Brissa Leyva, Greidys Moreno, Genesis Leyva, Alejandra Castruita and Pulido.

"I was proud of the way the girls played with good teamwork and effort," said Great Bend coach Noel Rodriguez. "We played a well-rounded game. We stopped them defensively, moved the ball to the midfield and attacked with our forwards."

Rodriguez was pleased how the Panthers fed on the positive momentum.

"One score means we all score," he said. "Once we got going, the girls got excited and started celebrating together. The girls were pumped up and sharing the love."

Great Bend (1-1) plays Buhler at home Monday and travels to Junction City Tuesday.
