Panther baseball throws no-hitter

RUSSELL – Great Bend’s baseball team enjoyed a perfect opener with a 17-0 no-hitter over Russell Thursday. Hunter Herrman (1-0) struck out four batters and Daxton Minton pitched one inning with two strikeouts.

Herrman and Owen Kaiser slugged 2-run homers. J.J. Grove tripled and Peyden Oelger hit a 2-run triple in a 13-run first inning.

Oelger, Slade Mohr and Carson Umphres also drove home two runs. Koehn Ribordy delivered three hits. Kaiser and Ian Premer each had two hits.

The Panthers (1-0) play Pratt at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
