Otis-Bison boys finish runner-up at Fairfield

CUNNINGHAM 63, OTIS-BISON 45 (1ST) — Otis-Bison lost 63-45, but Cougar Jake Hoopingarner delivered an ESPN-worthy highlight with a 60-foot 3-pointer to end the first quarter to lead 14-13 over Cunningham.

Cunningham's Will Wegerer poured through 28 points and Albers kicked in 19 points as the Wildcats powered past Otis-Bison 63-45 in the Falcon Classic championship.

Hoopingarner scored 15 points and Louis McVey added eight points.

"It's really good for our guys to play a top 1A team early," said Otis-Bison coach Curtis Little. "It was back and forth until the final minutes."

PRETTY PRAIRIE 66, STAFFORD 60 (3RD) — Pretty Prairie rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime and defeated Stafford 66-60 for third place at the Falcon Basketball Classic. 

OTIS-BISON 77, PRETTY PRAIRIE 52 — Red-hot Kelson Juno scored 24 points in the paint to spark the Cougars past Pretty Prairie to advance to the championship game of the Falcon Basketball Classic. Louis McVey (11) and Jake Hoopingarner (10) scored in double figures. The Cougars (3-0) play Cunningham (3-0) in Saturday's championship game.

Pretty Prairie's Emmett Harbaugh (12) and El Young (10) scored in double figures.

CUNNINGHAM 63, STAFFORD 29 — Stafford's Pablo Diaz scored 21 points in a brilliant effort, but Cunningham raced past the Trojans 63-29 in Thursday's Falcon Classic semifinals. The Wildcats raced to a 25-2 lead. Stafford plays Pretty Prairie for third place.

STAFFORD 72, BURRTON 18 – Stafford sophomore Pablo Diaz scored 22 points and Jake Simmons added 18 points as the Trojans roared past Burrton 72-18 at Tuesday's Fairfield Basketball Classic.

Stafford (1-1) saw 12 Trojans score points. The Trojans play Cunningham in the semifinals.

RENO COUNTY 33, OTIS-BISON 26 — Otis-Bison's Bri Croisant scored a career high 17 points in a hard-fought 33-26 loss to the Reno County Sabres in Thursday's Fairfield Classic Tournament.

The Cougars (1-2) sliced a 10-point deficit to 22-19 with 71/2 minutes of shutout basketball. But Reno County's Megan Asberry scored three baskets for a 31-21 lead to cap a 12-point game. Bella Spexarth and Auna Walton each scored seven points.
