Oklahoma Wesleyan pounded its way to the KCAC Basbell Championshop by beating Tabor College 11-3 in Sunday’s first championship game at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Eagles led 5-3 and broke loose with six runs in the eighth inning.
Alejandro Hernandez drilled a three-run homer, Chris Acosta-Tapia hit a two-run homer and Trevor Achenbach homered to spark the power-laden Eagles past Tabor College.
Oklahoma Wesleyan (48-9) will host an NAIA Regional May 15-18 at Bartelsville, Okla. and Tabor College (41-15) will host a regional May 15-18 at Hutchinson’s Hobart-Detter Field and Rice Park. Pairings will be released May 11.
TABOR 14, STERLING 9 (loser’s bracket final) — Tabor’s Jordan Harris homered and drove in three runs and Colton Flax drove in three runs to lead Tabor to the championship game. Raulier Martinez also homered.
OKLA. WESLEYAN 18, STERLING 5 (winner’s bracket final) — Oklahoma Wesleyan pounded Sterling for 18 runs and 22 hits. Will Price homered three times and drove in five runs to spark the Eagles. Hunter Henry drove in five runs with two hits.
