MACKSVILLE 61, HUTCHINSON CENTRAL CHRISTIAN 51 — Macksville basketball coach Jeff Kuckelman celebrated his 400th career victory with the Mustangs Tuesday with a 61-51 victory over Hutchinson Central Christian.

Macksville all-state standout Diego Esparza contributed 28 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Kendall Grippin delivered 16 points and three assists.

Hector Gomez had four assists and two blocks. Nolan Adams grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots.

HUTCHINSON CENTRAL CHRISTIAN GIRLS 50, MACKSVILLE 44 -- Macksville's Daniela Reyes scored 17 points with three steals in a hard-fought 50-46 non-league basketball loss to Hutchinson Central Christian. Isabela Ortiz contributed 12 points.

Macksville (2-3) led 36-35, but was outscored 15-8 in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs converted 6 of 18 free throws.
