HILLSBORO — Larned's No. 2 singles Lauren Sleder placed first and the Indians scored 52 points to finish runner-up behind Hesston (57) in Saturday's Central Kansas League tennis tournament.

Sleder defeated Hoisington's Claire Crutcher 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match. 

Hoisington's No. 1 singles Reese Merlau captured the championship with a 7-6, (7-3), 6-2 victory over Pratt's Kate Jackson. The Cardinals (45) tied Smoky Valley for third place.

Larned's No. 1 singles Cassie Manry placed third with a 6-3, 3-6 (10-6) tiebreaker over Hesston's Aubrey Koehn.
