Larned softball wins opener

LARNED — Larned's softball team rolled to a 12-2 victory over Lyons Tuesday. The second game was suspended with the score tied 4-4.

LARNED 12, LYONS 2 (G1)—  Larned's J Hagerman drove home five runs and Brooke Simmons scored three runs with three hits and three RBI. Pitcher Karley Lemuz struck out 10 batters.

Indian Eowyn Hedding singled and rounded the bases on a first-inning error.  Maya Wilson scored on a Brooke Simmons single. Teegan Walker scored on Hagerman's single.

Gillian Smith scored on a groundout to start a 5-run second frame. Hedding and Walker scored on a Brooke Simmons single. Hagerman's single scored Simmons and Jadyn Crosby.

Crosby scored on a groundout and Simmons scored on a fourth-inning wild pitch. D Bowerson scored on Crosby's single. Simmons scored on Hageman's groundout for the winning run.

LARNED 4, LYONS 4  (G2, suspended)— Larned  matched Lyons through four innings. 

Simmons scored on Crosby's second-inning single. Crosby scored on a groundout.  Wilson scored on a Lemuz third-inning groundout. Ivy Hope scored on a fourth-inning error.

Lyons Lions Jocelyn Vargas, Peyton Kruse and Alexis Martinez drove home runs.

Tiger Carlson wins three events at Kinsley

KINSLEY —Pawnee Heights Tiger Brady Carlson swept first place in the high jump (5-8), long jump (19-01/2) and triple jump (41-51/2) at the Kinsley track meet. The Tigers placed runner-up in the 400-meter relay (56.16). Macksville's Hector Gomez won the 100 meters (11.51) and placed second in the 200 (25.23). Pawnee Heights Tiger Abby Hands won the discus (112-8) and javelin (97-10) and placed second in the shot put (33-111/2). Other first-place winners were Macksville's Diana Ibarra, 100 (13.79) and 200 (30.31). Runner-up medals were earned by Macksville's Ava Chadd, long jump (14-93/4) and Pawnee Heights' Abby Pelton, triple jump (30-71/2).
