Indians salvage baseball split
LARNED – Larned reliever Ian Orth struck out Haven’s D.J. Miller to preserve a 7-6 Central Kansas League baseball victory. Haven (4-2 CKL) won the opener 17-9. Larned (1-5 CKL) travels to Hillsboro (1-3) Thursday.
INDIANS 7, HAVEN 6 (G2) – Larned erased a 4-1 lead with a 6-run sixth inning to rally past the Wildcats.
Carlos Ibarra’s 2-run single scored Brady Hope and Logan Erway to ignite the 6-run inning. Erway scored on Cade Colglazier’s groundball. Deacon Martin’s single scored Ty Smith. Ibarra and Colglazier scored on passed balls for a 7-4 lead.
Logan Erway’s single scored Orth for a 1-0 lead.
Haven led 2-1 after a 2-run fourth inning. Karter Cooperider scored on a passed ball. D.J. Miller scored on Reese Yoder’s single. Dustin Loughrie scored on a groundout and Gavin Moore scored on a wild pitch.
Haven’s Dustin Loughrie scored on an error and Preston Sander scored on a groundout for a 7-6 score.
HAVEN 17, LARNED 9 (G1) – Haven scored 17 runs in five innings to roll past the Indians. Larned pitchers yielded nine walks and the Indians committed four errors.
Larned’s Erway scored two runs and drove home two runs. Eian Sanders, Colglazier and Martin delivered RBIs.
Haven’s Cooperider drove in three runs. Sanders, Nash Wray, Dalton Bontrager and Loughrie each drove home three runs.
