Larned captures Claflin title

CLAFLIN – Larned’s No. 1 singles Cassie Manry and No. 2 singles Lauren Sleder captured first place to power the Indians (20) ahead of Central Plains (18) for the Claflin tennis title Tuesday.

In championship matches, Manry defeated Hoisington’s Reese Merlau, 8-6 and Sleder downed Hoisington’s Claire Crutcher 8-4.

Central Plains swept the doubles titles.

Oilers Grace Lamatsch/Ryann Metro defeated WaKeeney-Trego’s Annika Dietz/Trista Smith 8-2 and Oilers Eliza Jeffrey/Boston Robison downed Hoisington’s Kassie Linsner/Heather Ward 8-4 in championship matches.
