ELLINWOOD 40, DOUGLASS 6

DOUGLASS — Ellinwood’s Rylan Wirtz scored three rushing touchdowns and quarterback Drew Heinz dashed for two scores as the Eagles roared past Douglass 40-6 Friday. The Eagles (2-0) are 2-0 for the first time since 1996 when they beat Nickerson 44-8 and Hillsboro 28-2.

Wirtz scored on runs of 1, 6 and 12 yards. Heinz scored on 27- and 70-yard runs. Cooper Hosman scored on a dazzling 82-yard interception return.

HOISINGTON 38, HALSTEAD 14

HALSTEAD – Halfback Teron Kraft rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback Tony Moore threw for two scores as the Hoisington Cardinals roared past Halstead 38-14 in Friday’s Central Kansas League football game.

Kraft scored on a 22-yard reception from Moore and rushed for 132 yards with 2- and 7-yard scoring runs. Carson Mason scored on a 29-yard scoring strike from Moore. Mason Martin delivered the key defensive play with a 95-yard interception return.

Mason Alderdice intercepted two passes as the Cardinals had four takeaways. Colin Mater recovered a fumble. Ian Smith contributed five tackles and three assists and Gage Britt had six tackles.

Hoisington (2-0) rushed for 291 yards and passed for 133 yards. Jason Robinson set up a touchdown with a 60-yard kickoff return.

ROZEL — Pawnee Heights Tigers Jimmy Gardner and Davin Hamby each accounted for three touchdowns to spark a 56-6 6-man football victory over Chase.

Gardner scored on 4- and 15-yard touchdowns and completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Hamby. Hamby accounted for three touchdowns with a 50-yard kickoff return, a 7-yard interception return and a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Clayton Hammeke. Hammeke added a 7-yard touchdown run. Tiger Brady Carlson returned a fumble for the Tigers (2-0).

Gardner contributed nine tackles and Alexis Ibarra had six stops. Ely Hoffman intercepted a pass.

Michael Mazur caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Layton Winkelman for Chase (0-1).

Chamberlain scored on 25- and 37-yard runs. Schmidt scored on 25- and 48-yard runs. Woodrow Lancaster, Cason Lemuz and Kylere Semple also scored Kinsley touchdowns.

PRATT — Stafford quarterback Jacob Simmons completed six passes to Jimi Oleson for 62 yards, but the Trojans committed three turnovers in a 46-0 loss in 8-man football to Pratt Skyline.

Tuff Pope contributed eight tackles and Axel Ortiz and Kerschenske each had five stops.

MACKSVILLE — After Macksville climbed within 14-12 on two touchdown passes, the Central Plains Oilers scored 44 points for a 58-12 rout over the Mustangs, last year’s 8-man playoff qualifier.

Blaine Hickel scored on a 40-yard run and Paxton Dody caught a 30-yard TD pass from Brodie Crites. Hunter Klima caught a 36-yard scoring pass from Crites and the rout was on.

NESS CITY — St. John quarterback Braxton Alpers passed for four touchdowns and rushed for two scores as the Tigers routed Ness City 68-22 in Friday's Central Prairie League football game.

Alpers scored on 5- and 26-yard runs and completed three touchdown passes of 6, 17 and 18 yards to Alan Valenzuela. Jace Reyes scored on 10- and 26-yard runs and a 22-yard pass from Alpers. Daniel Portillo scored a rushing touchdown.
