Hoisington girls qualify for state golf

Hoisington's Tricia Schremmer earned medalist honors and the Cardinals featured four top 10 medalists at Monday's Lake Barton Tournament.

GOODLAND — Hoisington's girls (436) placed fourth at Sugar Hills Golf Course at Monday's Goodland regional to qualify for the 3-1A state golf tournament at Hesston Golf Course Oct. 16-17.

Cardinal Tricia Schremmer (98) earned seventh-medalist honors. Also counting for the Cardinals were 16th-place Ally Karst (109), 20th-place Kaylee Shives (112) and Lexus Petersilie (117), 27th. Schremmer has placed sixth and 14th at state. The Cardinals finished fifth at state last year. Karst, Shives and Lexus Petersilie are past state qualifiers.

Larned Indian Erin Tims (103) tied for ninth and birdied the sixth hole to qualify for state golf as an individual. Also counting for Larned were 21st-place Taeten Reynolds, 114; 27th-place Jocelyn Clawson, 117 (53-64); and 33rd-place Temperance Donecker, 121.Colby medalist Anna Starbuck (82) led the Eagles (395) to first place ahead of Goodland (405) and Cimarron (434).
