Great Bend girls tennis coach Zachary Bartel was optimistic for a strong 2024 season.

So far, Bartel's forecast is accurate.

Great Bend's girls swept both doubles divisions and won a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles to dominate the Great Bend Round Robin with 25 points with Hays High (14) placing runner-up. The Panthers executed a solid serving game and minimized mistakes during the 90-degree afternoon.

No. 1 doubles Darcy Feist/Mac Lindberg used the lefty (Feist) and righty (Lindberg) combination to perfection with a 25-6 game advantage. They downed Hays High's Kaelin Maier/Alyse Zimmerman 8-4 for first place. No. 2 doubles  Mackenzie LaViolette/Kylie McCormick defeated Hays High's Kallyn Meyers/Tori Miller, Hays in the championship match. LaViolette/ McCormick outscored three teams 24-12.

No. 2 singles Clarice Snapp (2-1) lost to Beloit's Ella Manning 8-6, but won a 3-way tiebreaker on winning percentage. Snapp won 22 of 35 games played, Manning 23-16 and Hays High's Maycie Holdeman finished 20-20.

Dodge City's Ellie Bunkall outlasted Great Bend's Paige Stacey 8-7 (11-9) in the tightest match of the afternoon.
