Great Bend Braves, Hoisington compete at Salina Tournament

SALINA — The Buhler Nationals shut out the Great Bend Braves 5-0 to kick off the Salina Grand Slam Baseball Tournament. The Salina Spikes (20-1) downed the Braves (12-4) in their second game.

BRAVES 3, SALINA FALCONS 2 — Braves pitcher Koehn Ribordy struck out 10 batters in a 105-pitch outing. Ribordy retired the final six batters.

Ribordy ignited a 3-run third inning with a single to score Jaxon Wondra. Trey Milsap singled in Ribordy and Collin Saffa. 

Salina's Seth Rogers scored on Cayson Ivey's single. Layton Schmidt scored in Ryan Brown's sacrifice fly.

BRAVES 4, WELLINGTON 1 — Braves pitcher Peyden Oelger backed up Koehn Ribordy with a vintage 2-hit performance.

BUHLER NATIONALS 5, BRAVES 0 — Great Bend's Trenton Kern singled twice for the Braves' lone hits off Buhler pitcher Logan Snyder, who struck out four batters. Slade Mohr hit into a fourth-inning double play. Jaxon Wondra hit into a game-ending double play.

Buhler scored single runs in the second and third innings. Julian Morrison doubled in Jacob Miller. Carter Jones scored on a Carson Roberts groundout. Jacob Miller doubled in Mitchel McDaniel to ignite a 3-run fourth inning. Jacob Miller scored on Jarod Miller's single. Jared Miller scored on an error. 

SALINA SPIKES (16), 10 BRAVES 3 — Salina's K Smith, O Perez and G Rice each drove in two runs to spark the Spikes. Braves pitcher Trey Milsap was tagged for nine earned runs.

Great Bend's Owen Kaiser doubled home Daxton Minton in the third inning. Milsap doubled home Owen Kaiser and Peyden Oelger in a 2-run fifth inning.

The Spikes put the game on ice with a 6-run fifth inning.

HOISINGTON HORNETS 11, SALINA 8 

HOISINGTON HORNETS 6, HAYS HAMMER 5 — Hoisington's Sebastian Bujanda singled home Landon Demuth for the game-winning run after Demuth tripled in the seventh inning. Brodie Crites pitched two scoreless innings to earn the victory. 

Rafa Chavez scored on Demuth's bases-loaded walk. Marcus Starr singled home Crites. Madden Wilson scored on a bases-loaded walk. Demuth scored on Kolter Hahn's sacrifice fly for a 4-0 lead. Wilson singled home Carson Mason in the second inning.

Hays' Kal Lonsdale and Wyatt Dreiling hit RBI second-inning singles. Sam Thielen stole home in the third inning. Brett Rhoades doubled in Bennett Smith and Adler Brown for a 5-5 tie.

SALINA SPIKES (15) 3, HOISINGTON HORNETS 2 —  Hoisington pitcher Landon Demuth threw six innings in 1-one loss.

Salina's Noah Hines scored on a passed ball and Aidan Hammond scored on C. Klover's sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead. T. Ptacek scored on Demuth's third-inning balk for a 3-0 lead.

Hoisington's Marcus Starr singled in Demuth and R Chavez scored on a fourth-inning balk for a 3-2 score. Hoisington was hitless in the final three innings.
