The Great Bend Bombers 12-and-under baseball team (21-11) finished 2-3 in last weekend's tournament. The Bombers feature Kellan Chansler (1), Bryce Burton (2), Kade Thexton (5), Christian Alcala (6), Jacoby Council (7), K.J. Cell (10), Carter Dreiling (19), Gavin Wondra (22), Carter Schmidt (23), Brayden Herrman (24) and Jayden Crawford (35).
BOMBERS 10, VIPERS 2 – The Bombers combined six hits, five walks and five Viper errors for a run-rule victory. Bombers Gavin Wondra, Bradyen Herrman, K.J. Cell and Carter Dreiling drove home runs. Christian Alcala and Jacoby Council hit doubles. Pitchers Kade Thexton and Cell limited the Vipers to two runs.
BOMBERS 5, MID SOUTH MARSHALL 1 – Chansler pitched four innings after Wondra threw two shutout innings. Cell drove home two runs with two hits. Thexton and Council drove home runs.
FINS 5, BOMBERS 1 – Schmidt scored a fifth-inning run and Cell singled for the Bombers' base hit.
BULLS 11, BOMBERS 3 – The Braves committed nine errors which led to eight unearned runs. Crawford's third-inning double scored Burton and Chansler. Crawford scored on an error. Third baseman Wondra and first baseman Burton turned a double play.
THUNDER 4, BOMBERS 3 – The Thunder won on a game-winning single in the sixth inning.
Council led the Bombers with two runs batted in, including a sixth-inning sacrifice bunt that drove home Alcala for a 3-3 tie. After trailing 3-0, the Bombers rallied for a 3-3 tie. Alcala doubled home Thexton in a 2-run fourth inning. Alcala scored on Council’s single.
