Reese Stickney leads Eagles
GREENSBURG — The Ellinwood girls basketball team survived a thrilling championship victory 60-55 over Kiowa County to capture the Kiowa County Basketball Shootout.
Hot-shooting Reese Stickney led the way with 25 points and five 3-point goals. Brynn Widener and Alya Ritchie added eight points apiece. Alyvia Batchman scored five points in overtime.
Ellinwood coach Greg Maxwell expressed his pride in the team’s effort and execution.
“We knew going into this season we had an opportunity to win the Kiowa tournament," Maxwell said. "I'm proud of the girls for taking advantage of the opportunities. I'm happy to win an extremely tight game in overtime and earn the Kiowa County Shootout Championship. The girls are working to improve each day.”
Ava Little led Kiowa County with 18 points.
The JV team has also had a strong start, sitting undefeated at 3-0, showcasing the program’s depth and commitment to success.

KIOWA COUNTY 64, ELLINWOOD 53 — Kiowa County completed a 3-game sweep to capture the Kiowa County Tournament with a hard-fought 64-53 victory over Ellinwood Saturday. Kiowa County's Sawyer Campbell scored 26 points and Brock Deterding added 24 points. The Mavericks (4-0) outscored the Eagles 38-24 after halftime.
Ellinwood's Landon Simpson scored 20 points to cap a strong 3-game stretch. Tavian McCaffrey and Drake Hosman added 13 points apiece.
