Softball champions

The 10U Central Kansas Lady Crushers softball team won the Battle for the Rings at Fun Valley in Hutchinson April 6-7. The Crushers defeated Wichita Sluggers-Willig in extra innings to clinch the championship. The Lady Crushers feature Great Bend’s Teegan Guerra, Mya Krebaum and Callie Umphres of Great Bend and Ellinwood’s Bennett Jacobs. SALINA — Ellinwood's Luke Heinz shot 16-over-par 86 in near-perfect weather to place 14th at Tuesday's Salina Sacred Heart tournament at Salina Muncipal Golf Course. The Eagles also counted 21st Braden Lewis (91), 25th Keaton Lewis (95) and 27th Austin Shinliver (103). Sacred Heart's Luke Newell shot 3-over-par 73 to earn medalist honors. Hesston (319) won the team title on a tiebreaker.
