Braves sweep Salina Falcons

The Great Bend Braves (12-2) swept the Salina Falcons 5-0 and 6-5 in Tuesday's baseball doubleheader at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Braves compete at the Salina Tournament starting Thursday. The Falcons drop to 10-14.

BRAVES 4, SALINA FALCONS 0 (G1) — Braves pitchers Trey Milsap (5-0) and Carson Poe combined for a 4-hit shutout. Poe retired Kory Serocki to end the game with the bases loaded. Shortstop Jaxon Wondra turned a first-inning double play.

Daxton Minton singled three times and drove in two runs. Peyden Oelger scored on an Eli Contreras fifth-inning groundout. 

Collin Saffa reached on an error, Slade Mohr walked and Trenton Kern to start a 3-run sixth inning. Oelger singled in Saffa. Mohr and Kern scored on Minton's single.  

BRAVES 6, FALCONS 5 — If patience is a virtue, the Braves are truly virtuous, drawing 11 walks to scrap past the Salina Falcons 6-5 in a wild nightcap. Oelger earned a save by retiring the final three batters. Salina's Serocki and Brody Farthing scored on Seth Rogers' sixth-inning single for a 6-5 score.

Trenton Kern tripled and scored on a second-inning error. Oelger scored on a balk by pitcher Treytan Olson. 

The Braves drew five walks in a 4-run fourth inning. Poe's walk forced home Mohr. Trenton Kern scored on a wild pitch. Oelger scored on an Eli Contreras sacrifice fly. Poe scored on an error for a 6-3 lead after four innings.

Salina's Rogers scored on a groundout and Cole Gilpin delivered an RBI first-inning single.  Farthing singled in Ayden Fitzgerald in the third inning.
