February 27, 2023  -- Returning off a two-month layoff, the Barton Community College eSports program has hit the ground running for the eight-week spring semester. The Cougars nearly secured their first perfect week posting a 6-1 mark before settling with a 3-4 second week record.

Sitting at 9-5 on the young campaign, Barton will look to build on its strong start to the season with another slate of six match-ups in week three that got underway Monday evening, Feb. 27.

The spring schedule opened on Monday, Feb. 13.

Highlighting the opening two weeks of the season has been the continuous domination on Tuesday evenings as the defending Fall National Champion Rainbow 6 Siege squad and Madden 23 gamer Caden Nokleby extended the programs perfect Tuesday night streak to 16 straight weeks.

Picking up right where they left off, the Siege group has had little trouble rattling off a pair of 2-0 victories over Dawson Community College and Guilford Tech Community College sweeping all four maps with perfect 7-0 results.

Nokleby notched his two victories edging out Fort Scott Community College and Navarro College claiming 2-1 winner take all games extending his regular season winning streak to nine straight.

Also starting the season with a 2-0 mark is the Overwatch 2 clan as the Cougars have had little trouble producing a pair of 3-0 scores against Mesalands Community College and Harrisburg Area Community College.

Starting the season 1-0 with a clean 3-0 sweep over Alexandria Technical & Community College was the Barton Rocket League team before falling in the second week 3-1 to Mineral Area College.

Other individual results saw Frank Wilkens and Harley Headley opening the season with 3-0 wins over Dallas College in Super Smash Brothers before both dropping 3-0 decisions to Highland Community College in week two. Fellow teammate Misti Wick from Great Bend remains searching for her first Super Smash Brothers win after dropping 3-0 matches to Dallas College and Herkimer College.
