HOISINGTON — Hoisington rolled up 389 yards offense and converted five takeaways into a wild 48-31 District victory over Lakin. Hoisington (2-4, 2-0 District 8) takes control while dropping Lakin (4-2,, 2-1 District).

All-stater Jason Robinson returned from an opening-game injury with an 80-yard touchdown reception, an interception and fumble recovery. The Cardinals committed seven turnovers last week. Kyler Dean Russell also returned with a touchdown and interception.

"The best thing is seeing those guys smile. We knew they'd make big plays for us," said Hoisington coach Zach Baird. "It's great to see those guys contribute."

The Cardinals rushed for 230 yards and quarterback Rhen Galla threw for 159 yards. Teron Kraft rushed for 114 yards and two scores. Galla completed a 22-yard touchdown strike to Mason Martin and the 80-yard bomb to Robinson. C.J. Bryant, Kaideen Chambers and Kyler Dean Russell scored rushing touchdowns. Martin and Russell also intercepted passes.

"We did a better job creating turnovers, the biggest difference in the game," said Baird. "Turnovers played a huge factor."

Lakin's Timmy Johnson caught 5, 27 and 59-yard touchdown strikes from quarterback Dru Patterson to exploit the Cardinals' secondary.

"Lakin has really good football players," said Baird. "They're well coached with good athletes. I thought we'd be better, but they executed well."
