CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 63, ELLINWOOD 15

CLAFLIN — The No. 1 ranked 1A Central Plains girls cruised past Ellinwood 63-15 in Tuesday's non-league basketball game. The Oilers (7-0) are seven-time defending state basketball champions.

The Oilers outscored the Eagles 38-8 in the first half keyed by effective trapping halfcourt pressure defense. Madison McGuire (15), Brynna Hammeke (15) and Kassidy Nixon (14) scored in double figures. Ellinwood's Bella Baker scored nine points. Kennedy Behnke contributed six rebounds and three assists. Brittany Simpson had four steals.

STAFFORD — Otis-Bison's girls placed four players in double figures to roll past Stafford 60-23 in Tuesday's non-league basketball game.  The Cougars (3-3) placed Halee Morrison (14), Zoey Schwindt (14), Johanna Baalmann (10) and Lela Kenyon (10) in double figures. Freshman Schwindt and sophomore Kenyon scored career highs.

The Cougars led 35-15 at halftime.

Stafford (0-6) was sparked by Taylor Denio with 18 points and a trio of 3-pointers.

The Tigers (4-3, 1-0) were led by Preston Dunn (14), Elijah Delp (13) and Quade Smith (11). Quade Smith scored five points and Dunn scored on a steal for a 13-10 lead that the Tigers never lost.
