WICHITA – Great Bend Bat Cat pitcher Julio Heredia pitched a shutout inning to deliver the only 1-2-3 inning for the losing Stars in a 9-2 setback to the Stripes in Sunday's Jayhawk Collegiate All-Star Baseball game.

Heredia (Krugerville, Texas) owns a 0.00 earned run average for the Bat Cats (13-7).

Bat Cat catcher Jhett Creel (Wylie, Texas) singled twice and scored a run. Shortstop Jesse Ponce (Sachse, Texas) singled in two at-bats. Second baseman Carson Lorch (Cypress, Texas) was hit by a pitch. Cooper Smith (Marlow, Okla.) batted 0-for-2 with a line drive to the fence caught by Tytin Goebel.

Great Bend pitcher Tyler Stuhlsatz yielded one earned run when Jarrett Flaggert hustled home from second base on an infield single. 

Hutchinson Monarch Brett Smajstria (Pearland, Texas) singled, doubled, scored two runs and batted two runs home. Monarch Flaggert (Choctaw, Okla). singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in two runs.

Hutchinson reliever Carson Cornelius ended the Stars' night with a 6-4-3 double play turned by shortstop Jerdy Lopez and second baseman Christian Caruso. Seven of nine Stripes pitchers threw shutout innings.

The Stripes scored runs in the first six innings. Cooper Wesslund, Jaden Gustafson, Tytin Goebel and Jason McCarty each drove in a run.

Stars batter Mitchell Birdsall tripled home Easton Norris in the first inning. Norris drove in Creel with a second-inning sacrifice fly.
