The Great Bend Bat Cats (27-11) elected to forfeit Sunday's scheduled Jayhawk League postseason championship to prepare for the 2023 NBC World Series. 

The Bat Cats will have played two baseball games in 18 days when the NBC World Series starts. Great Bend will meet Tulsa, Okla. Sandlot at noon Friday, Aug. 4 at Wichita State’s Eck Stadium.

The three-time defending NBC champion Santa Barbara, Foresters (22-9) and Lonestar, Kraken, Texas (11-5) join the Bat Cats in Pool B. The top team from each pool earns a bye.
