To the editor,

As a business or a community leader, sponsorship of the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Great Bend is just one step in the right direction to a world without Alzheimer’s. It is not just an aspiration, but a commitment to make a difference, change lives, and bring to light a future free from the shadows of Alzheimer’s. To get started, pick up the phone and contact Mark Bretches, Great Bend Walk Manager at 316-512-9711 at ext. 1045. Just say, “I want to lead the fight and be a sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Great Bend.”

Prefer a more active approach? Then form a Walk team, start fundraising and be at the Walk, Oct. 17 at Jack Kilby Square at 5:30 p.m.

With every step taken and every dollar raised, we are that much closer to a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – and none of it would be possible without the support of local business and individuals who understand this is a silent disease impacting our community. Alzheimer’s kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.  Alzheimer’s disease affects thinking, behavior, and memory. It has no cure.

It is not normal aging. It is a progressive disease that has long-term implications for our loved ones and their families.

Register for any of the Walks in Central & Western Kansas by going to alz.org/cwkswalk. Form a team and invite others to walk with you. Start fundraising and spread the word. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s.
