HOISINGTON — William Dale “Bill” Popp, 83, passed away Dec. 29, 2024, at Diversicare of Larned, Kansas. He was born on June 27, 1941, in Hoisington, Kan., to Salmon and Mollie (Sheck) Popp. On Oct. 26, 1968, he married Melody Davis in Holyrood, Kan.
A lifetime resident of Hoisington, Bill worked as a seismographer for Reliance. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bill was a member of the Lutheran faith, attending church in both Hoisington and Otis, serving as the board president for Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis, Kan. He was a trolley driver for the City of Hoisington and a board member of the zoning committee for Barton County. Bill greatly enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Tony Popp of Florida; three daughters, Carla Sharp of Bridge Creek, Okla., Tina Boeck of Hoisington, and Donnell Fercking and husband Chris of Great Bend; nine grandchildren, Michaela Sharp, Caleb Sharp, Adrian Wilson and husband Hunter, Tyler Boeck, Abbygail Boeck, Lexi Boeck, Gene Popp, Marshall Popp, and Aaron Popp; four great grandchildren, Tre Register, Conner Register, Oliver Hensley, and River Boeck; brother, LaVerne Popp of St. Joseph, Mo.; and sister, Velma Boepple of Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin and Richard Popp; and sister, Alice Foster.
Bill has elected to will his body to the University of Kansas Medical School. Services are pending.
