Viola Marie Schraeder

Viola Marie Schraeder, 101, passed away Dec. 28, 2024, at her home in Great Bend, Kan. She was born on April 28, 1923, in Pfeifer, Kan., to Andrew and Catherine (Jacobs) Dome. On April 8, 1947, she married Lee Roy Schraeder in LaCrosse, Kan. He passed on June 2, 2008.

A resident of Great Bend since 2005 coming from Timken, Viola was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Viola was a great cook and seamstress.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Butler from Frisco, Texas, and Becky Soukup and husband Gary of Ellsworth; six grandchildren, Kelli Soukup, Lauren Horn, Jordon Harms, Whitney Parzybok, Nicole Deeds, and Stacey Stump; nine great grandchildren, August, Archer, Clara, Andrew, Dean, Jameson, Christian, Kaden and Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two daughters, Leann Fischer and Connie Harms; five brothers, Norbert, Robert F., Ralph, Tony, and Francis Dome; two sisters, Vivian Schraeder and Isabel Fossen; and a son in law, Lawrence Butler.

Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Prince of Peace Parish, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.

Willis Joseph Bieberle 1932 - 2025

Willis Joseph Bieberle

Center, Bel Aire, Kan. He was born on Oct. 15, 1932, in Claflin, Kan., to Joseph and Rose (Huslig) Bieberle. On Aug. 2, 1955, he married Mary Theresa Demel in Odin, Kan. 

Willis worked as a gas meter measurement technician for Northern Natural Gas Company for 33 years in Beaver, Okla. Upon retirement, he returned to Great Bend as a longtime resident. Willis proudly served the country as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict prior to his working career. Willis was a member of Prince of Peace Parish – St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Theresa Bieberle; two sons, Mark J. and Robert A. Bieberle; daughter, Mary Kay (Dave) Lumadue; six granddaughters; one grandson; and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Omer Bieberle; and sisters, Alice Jenish, Dorothy Moeder and JoAnn McGlinn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola and Father Nicholas Samsel presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery, with military honors presented by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Rosary at 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to Prince of Peace Parish, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
