Viola M. Wagner 1917-2017

GREAT BEND — Viola M. Wagner, 99, died Oct. 2, 2017, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. 
She was born Oct. 24, 1917, at Bunker Hill, the daughter of Frank E. and Maggie (Addington) Parker. She married Elmer F. Tobias Nov. 17, 1934, and then later divorced. She married John Alfred Wagner April 17, 1970, at Great Bend. He died Feb. 12, 2017. A long time Great Bend resident, Mrs. Wagner worked for Roy’s Hickory Pit in Great Bend and Colonial House in Hesston.
Mrs. Wagner was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was deaconess and secretary and treasurer of her Sunday School class. She enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Gary G. Tobias and his wife Sonnie, Lampassas, Texas; three daughters, Beverly Roberts and her husband Rob, Mesa, Ariz., Judy Burke, Grand Lake, Colo.; and Debra Potter and her husband Shane, Great Bend; three step-sons, Matthew T. Wagner, Axtell; Mark H. Wagner and his wife Alma, Axtell; and Rick A. Branson and his wife Khrista, Ashland; three step-daughters, Patricia Stallbaumer and her husband Galen, Topeka; Mary E. Krouse and her husband Butch, Bonner Springs, and Vicki A. Ellis, Wichita; a sister, Betty Lucido of California; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 25 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Spitzmiller and infant Patty Lou Tobias; and two sisters, Marie Huff and Zella M. Gatton.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at Central Baptist Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. David Walters officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, at Bryant Funeral Home. Glenda Ruth Zimmerman

Glenda Ruth Zimmerman, 72, passed away Feb. 24, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Mo. She was born Jan. 8, 1953, in Great Bend, Kan. to Glen and Evelyn (Hulse) Tegarden.

Glenda attended Great Bend High School Class of 1971. She married Rodger Love and, from this union, had three children, Rick, Rodger Jr., and Shannon. She married Rick Zimmerman on Oct. 27, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. After 28 years of marriage, they renewed their vows June 24, 2022, with friends and family present, at St. Rose Catholic Church. She worked for Fuller Brush Industries in quality control for over 35 years until her retirement in 2017. Glenda was a Facebook enthusiast and loved staying in contact and keeping up with the latest events of her family. She enjoyed going to the Great Bend Rec Center and exercising with friends. Glenda enjoyed the days spent with her furry babies, Ollie and Haley. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and Altar Society at St. Rose Catholic Church. Above all else, she reveled in the time spent with family and her grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Rick Zimmerman; sons, Rick Love and his wife Becky of Independence, Mo., Rodger Love, Jr. of Topeka; daughter, Shannon Prester and her husband Marty of Wilson; stepsons, Rick Zimmerman of Salina, Ryan Zimmerman of Great Bend, Robert Zimmerman and his wife Samantha of Great Bend; stepdaughter, Rashawna Zimmerman of Great Bend; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Howard Johnson and his wife Cathy of Great Bend; sister Carol Elliott of Great Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Keri Zimmerman; brother, Gary Johnson; and sisters, Judy Pulec and Irene Strunk.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Visitation will be held at Bryant Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an Altar Society Rosary held at 4 p.m. and family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025. Memorials have been designated to Golden Belt Humane Society or American Cancer Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
