Uyvon Vonnie Emma Jackson 1923 - 2015

GREAT BEND — Uyvon “Vonnie” Emma Jackson, 92, went to heaven Dec. 29, 2015, passing away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, surrounded by her loving family and Woodhaven care providers. Born March 27, 1923, in Hastings, Neb., she was the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Peak) Fosbinder. On Aug. 12, 1942, she married Oris Arthur Jackson in North Platte, Neb. He died July 7, 1985. A Great Bend resident since 1960, coming from Nebraska, she retired from the plastics department at Fuller Brush Company in 1985, after many years of service. During her time of employment, Fuller Brush had the contract with Hanes, in which she remembers making many L’eggs pantyhose eggs.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of the First Assembly of God in Great Bend.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan Atwood and her husband Karl of Arkansas; Virginia “Ginger” Jackson, Great Bend, and Chris Herrman and her husband Tim, Great Bend; a sister, Jackie Garska, Ogallala, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Sherry Jackson, Statesville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Colin Herrman, Tim Atwood, David Atwood, Christopher Jackson, Brenda Adams, Cindy Jackson, and Karleen Burns; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Jackson; four brothers, Ernie Fosbinder, Kermit Fosbinder, Bert Fosbinder and Orville Fosbinder; and a sister, Berniece F. Teply.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dundee Valley Cemetery in Dundee with Pastor Dwight Dozier officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, both at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Woodhaven Care Center, in care of the funeral home.
