WICHITA — Thelma M. Steincamp (Langrehr), 81, died Feb. 12 after a long, courageous battle with old age. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Ma), sister, aunt, and friend to all. Thelma had a special gift for friendships, a genuine interest in other people and made new friends everywhere she went. She showed a generosity and fortitude that did not waiver, even as her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Harold, "Cug" L. Steincamp. Survivors include, her daughters, Denise (Jerry) Tarbell and Diane (Mike) Dixon; her grandchildren, Brianna Tarbell and Ryan, Timothy (T.J.), and Megan Dixon; brother, Harold Langrehr; many nieces and nephews; her best friend, Bev Shrum; and constant companion, her dog Samantha.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Downing and Lahey East Chapel. Memorials have been established with the Harold L. and Thelma M. Steincamp Geology Scholarship, 1845 Fairmount, Campus Box 2, Wichita, KS 67260-0002, and Wichita Children’s Home, 810 N. Holyoke St., Wichita, KS 67208-3099.
