Samuel Leroy Hendrickson

JETMORE — Samuel Leroy Hendrickson, 79, passed away Dec. 16, 2024 at Hodgeman County Health Center ISB, Jetmore. He was born March 26, 1945 in Dodge City, the son of Irvin Wesley and Daisy Ellen Pitts Hendrickson.

A lifetime area resident, he was of the Baptist faith. He held many jobs and was a truck driver, farmer, derrick hand on the oil rig, and a musician with Memphis Express. He was a member of the Chester Hawkins American Legion Post 290 and enjoyed music, playing guitar, going fishing, playing cards and Bingo. He served in the United States Army National Guard. 

On April 23, 1966 he married Donna Jean Craghead at Jetmore; she survives.

Other survivors include daughter, Dana Drake, Ellinwood, and three grandchildren, Jonathan Scothorn, Hutchinson, Justin (Kenia) Scothorn, Great Bend, and Jace Drake, Ellinwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wesley Morgan Hendrickson; sister, Roberta Joyce Reed; and son-in-law, Ronald Drake.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2024 at Jetmore Methodist Church with Carolyn Tarman and Pastor Maria Grimm presiding. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore with military graveside rites.
