Rosina Jacqueline Helsel, 91, passed away Dec. 21, 2024, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kan. She was born on Oct. 24, 1933, in Great Bend, to Domingo and Ruth (Barth) Scotti. On Jan. 26, 1961, she married Dale E. Helsel in Miami, Okla. He passed on Aug. 5, 2009.
A resident of Great Bend since 1959, Rosina held many roles: homemaker, housekeeper, and home daycare provider. She was a member of the Barton County Historical Society and enjoyed performance by the Golden Belt Community Theatre and Golden Belt Community Concert Association. Rosina liked to garden, cook, scrapbook, cross stitch, do crossword puzzles, and enjoying gambling, whether it be in bingo or penny slot machines. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Michael J. Wilson of Wichita, Gerry D. Helsel and wife Leslie of Great Bend, and Jerry D. Helsel and partner David of Topeka; daughter, Debra Shank of Great Bend; ten grandchildren, Aimee Holden, Ryan Helsel, Matthew Davison, Megan Heine, Jedd Boyd, Andrew Davison, Natasha Todd, Brandt Helsel, Falon Goodman, and Cody Helsel; 17 great grandchildren with one on the way; three great great grandchildren; son-in-law, Kent Davison of Athens, Ga.; nieces, Linda Schlegel and Janet Cox; nephew, Pete “Butch” Janatello; and cousin, Frieda DeWitt. She is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Michael E. Helsel and wife Trudy, and Terry Momyer; two daughters, Patricia Davison and Nancy Strain; parents; two sisters, Gloria Janatello and Norma Cofer; and son-in-law, Marty Shank.
Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, with family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Johnson presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials have been designated to Golden Belt Community Concert Association or Barton County Historical Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
