Rose Ann Wondra

CLAFLIN – Rose Ann Wondra, 89, died Oct. 14, 2024, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born Oct. 7, 1935, in Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of William F. and Anna M. (Hickey) Bahr. On Aug, 29, 1956, she married Leo A. Wondra in Olmitz, Kan. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2002.

A longtime Claflin resident, she was a teller at First Kansas Bank of Claflin. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Rose Ann was always ready to help anyone, especially with any type of crafting or decorating. Most of all she loved time spent with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Survivors include four children, Lois (Trey) Hanchett of Salina, Cheryl (Tony) Klepper of Ellinwood, Gary Wondra of Olmitz; and Bernetta (Tom) Burkhart of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren, Lukas Demel, Marisa Fairchild, Michelle Bland, Andrea Walters, Kristin Colson, Kenton Wondra, Haleigh Nelson, Chase Burkhart, Ben Burkhart, Kyler Burkhart, Layne Burkhart and Wyatt Burkhart; and six great grandchildren, Jack and Sam Demel, Annalynn and Emma Fairchild, Kendall Bland and Finley Burkhart. She is also survived by a brother Robert Bahr of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers, Charles, Fred, Marion, Don, Cecil, and Francis Bahr; a sister, Catherine Oborny; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Wondra.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., with Vigil and Rosary to begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, celebrated by Father Prakash Kola. Burial will follow in Claflin Cemetery.
