DODGE CITY — Michael “Mike” G. Schneweis, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024 in Dodge City.

He was born Sept. 19, 1950 at Dodge City, the son of Albert and Katherine (Boor) Schneweis. He was a lifetime Dodge City area resident and farmer. He graduated from St. Mary of the Plains High School and received his Associates Degree from Dodge City Community College as well as served in the Army National Guard.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 2955 and served on Ford County Fair Association board all in Dodge City.

On Feb. 16, 1980 he married Ethel Durler at Dodge City.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; a daughter, Lisa Stuckey and husband Zac, Kinsley; two sons, Kurt and wife Jennifer, Ensign and Kelly and wife Larissa, Dodge City; six grandchildren, Josh Stuckey, Matt Stuckey, Ben Stuckey, Jack Schneweis, Lauren Schneweis and Bethany Schneweis; two brothers, Bob Schneweis, Dodge City and Dave Schneweis and wife Susan, Lawrence, Kansas; three sisters, Kathy Minton, Cortez, Colo., Donna Dick, Lawrence and Karla Durant and husband Steve, Milford, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerald, Vernon and Ken; and three sisters, Elaine Schneweis, Carrol Ann Schneweis and JoAnn Cline.

Vigil service followed by Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024 at the church with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City. The family suggests memorials to the Sacred Heart School Endowment in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
