EL PASO, Texas — Marylin Ann Anderson, 76, passed away March 11, 2025, at Azria Health in Great Bend, Kan.  She was born Nov, 22, 1948, in El Paso, Texas to Earl and Lorena “Ruth” (Gilmore) Paxton.

Marylin met Rathaeul “Ralph” Anderson, Jr. in 1970, while working as a keypunch operator at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After a brief courtship, they married at El Paso on March 6, 1971. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Aimee Ruth and Robert Alan. Marylin obtained her master’s degree in education and worked in the Flour Bluff ISD, Socorro ISD, Ysleta ISD, and El Paso ISD as a high school teacher and counselor. The young family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas for a few years in the 1980s for Ralph’s banking work, returning to El Paso once again where he eventually became a high school teacher as well. After retirement, Marylin and Ralph loved to road trip, attending sorority conventions and Gideon conferences, and visiting family in Texas, Kansas, Arizona, Colorado, Virginia, and Alabama. Their theme song was “On the Road Again.” Ralph preceded her in death April 23, 2024.

Marylin was a member of Journey of Faith Community Church of El Paso. Ralph and Marylin had a mission of prayer, testimony, service, and she ministered faithfully beside him as an Auxiliary for the Gideon’s. She was an active volunteer with the Assistance League of El Paso. She also volunteered some of her time in hospice care. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher sorority. She loved going to the movies with her friends, and keeping up with friends and family over the phone and on Facebook – especially showing off pictures of her grandchildren and grandpets.

Survivors include daughter, Aimee Ruth Wutka and her husband Adam of Great Bend, Kan; son, Robert Alan Anderson and his wife Danielle of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan Wutka, Ben Wutka, Isaac Wutka, and Gabriel Wutka; brother, Larry Paxton of Chesapeake, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 53 years; her sister Ruth Earlene “Rene” Abel; her brother-in-law William “Bill” Abel; and her sister-in-law Pat Paxton.

Visitation will take place from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Scotsdale Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas, with Reverend Herb Mims and Reverend Adam Wutka presiding. Marylin will be laid to rest with her husband, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas. Memorials have been designated to The Assistance League of El Paso, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
