Lois Evelyn Kimberlin

Lois Evelyn Kimberlin, 71, peacefully departed this earthly life on Aug. 7, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan. Born on Aug. 30, 1952, in Great Bend, Kansas, she wed Wayne Lee Kimberlin on Feb. 4, 1969, though they later divorced. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorthy Fletcher; father, Bernie Fletcher; brother, Gary Fletcher; two grandsons, Mathew Kimberlin and Christopher Schwartz; and great-granddaughter, Sadie Mae Griggs.

Lois, originally from Great Bend, Kan., relocated to Missouri in 2015. She cherished a peaceful life, devoted to her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included visiting and playing board and card games with her grandchildren. Lois had a fondness for hummingbirds and adored her two pet pigs, Bacon and Gillie. She was a truly selfless mother and grandmother, always putting her family first. She often expressed her affection with the heartfelt phrase, “I love you to the moon and back.”

Lois is survived by her children, Nina Griggs from Stotts City, Mo., Salina Cary from Galena, Kan., Catina Heenan (Fred) from Girard, Kan., and Angel Morgan (David) from Ellinwood, Kan. She is also remembered by her beloved grandchildren, including Samantha Williams, Colt Griggs, Rhett Griggs, Wyatt Griggs, Chaince Schwartz, Peyton Schwartz, Zachary Kimberlin, Shannon Kimberlin, Bailee Heenan, Ashlie Thomas, Paige Morgan, and Brooklin Morgan, along with her great-grandchildren, Robert Jr. Williams, Damian Williams, Braylyn Griggs, Easton Griggs, Jaxson Griggs, Karah Wickman, Percephany Kimberlin, Kyler Kimberlin, Colton Garbrick, Brayden Herring, Aiden Thomas, and Oaklyn Thomas.

Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Aug. 30th, coinciding with what would have been her 72nd birthday. The service will be at 4 p.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, located at 3301 19th Street in Great Bend, Kan. A brief reception will take place immediately afterward in the church Annex.
