OLMITZ – Lisa Ann Wondra, 54, died April 11, 2023, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kan. She was born June 22, 1968, in Hoisington, the daughter of Eugene and Mary Jo (Ohnmacht) Maneth. Lisa graduated from Otis-Bison High School in 1986. She then received her associate degree from Barton County Community College and her bachelor’s degree from St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City. She was working towards her master’s degree with Fort Hays State College but had to quit due to her health.
On June 1, 1991, she married Gary L. Wondra at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz, Kan.
A lifetime resident of Olmitz, Lisa worked as an elementary teacher and librarian, starting in Timken and Albert and finally working for USD 403 Otis-Bison. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Olmitz, Kansas, where she was a member of the Altar Society and had sung in the church choir. Lisa was also a longtime member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle 744. Lisa fought her illness with such grace, she was always optimistic. Her vitality and love was evident in her care of others, never one to linger on her own problems, she was always concerned for others and their wellbeing. She always asked about your care and concerns and made sure you were well fed with her good cooking when visiting. She will be loved and missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Gary L. Wondra of the home; and two children, Kristin Colson and husband Jesse of Dighton, and Kenton Wondra of Olmitz; her parents, Eugene “Gene” and Mary Jo Maneth of Olmitz; three brothers, LeRoy Maneth and wife Shirley of Andover, her twin brother, Dale Maneth and wife Christy of Olmitz, and Michael Maneth and wife Brandy of Albert; a mother-in-law, Rose Ann Wondra of Hoisington, three sisters-in-law, Lois Hanchett and husband Trey of Salina, Cheryl Klepper and husband Tony of Ellinwood, and Bernetta Burkhart and husband Tom of Hutchinson; and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kan. Celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Olmitz.
