Leon Edward “Lonnie” Arnold, 80, passed away on Aug. 29, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Great Bend, Kan. He was born on July 20, 1944, in Pendennis, Kan., to Alfred Edward and Rosa Faye (Lacy) Arnold. On Nov. 20, 1974, he married Carolyn Cole in Great Bend.
A long time Great Bend resident, Lonnie held multiple careers prior to his retirement, from truck driving in the oil field, owning a gas station, and as a MHDD technician for Larned State Hospital. He was a religious man, who enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.
Survivors include daughter, Tracy Lea; three stepsons, Harry Thorne, IV, and wife Helen of Nekoma, Bryan L. Thorne and wife Genoveva of Beloit, and Troy Thorne and wife Danielle of Larned; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; beloved nieces, Vesta, Sonja, Elva and Tina; family friend, Donna Selle; numerous other loved ones; and cherished dogs, Toby and Sparky. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; parents; two brothers, Alfred and Bobby Gene Arnold; and sister, Darlene Arnold.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the “West Red Shed”, 9 McKinley St., Great Bend, Kan.
