Larry Gene Tournear, 84, passed away Oct. 11, 2024, at University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend, Kan. He was born on April 20, 1940, in Great Bend, Kan. to Irving and Mildred Tournear. In 1962, he married Dorothy Mae “Dot” Hurst in Great Bend. She passed on Dec. 29, 2009.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Larry owned and operated Tournear Auto Electric. He was an avid collector and builder of balsa model airplanes and a member of the Model Association of Central Kansas (MACK).

Survivors include son, Greg Tournear of Great Bend; daughters, Kim Tournear and Kristy Caldwell, both of Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers, Ron and wife Barb of Great Bend, and Gary Tournear and wife Sali of Vernal, Utah.

He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brother, Gail Tournear; and daughter-in-law, Ann Tournear.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be set for a later date. Memorials have been designated to the Larry Tournear Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
