GREAT BEND — Larry A. Reiser, 71,  was received into the loving arms of his heavenly Father August 17, 2011 at his home in Independence, Mo.
He was born July 26, 1940 at Great Bend, the son of Louis E. and Frances M. (Krkosska) Reiser.
He married Sue A. Hamill August 26, 1967 at Great Bend. He had a 45-year career in public accounting and served on the state level of the Kansas Public Accountants Association. He ran a private bookkeeping and tax service for several years. He served as chief financial officer for Allen Drilling, Great Bend.
Mr. Reiser was a lifetime Great Bend resident. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus, and Elks Lodge No. 1127, Great Bend, where he held several offices.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Reiser, of the home; a son, Mark A. Reiser, St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Jennifer A. Reiser, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Elmer Reiser and wife Laura, Great Bend; a sister, Jennie Ueckert, Great Bend; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Reiser, Great Bend; and the joy of his life, grandson, Ashton Reiser, Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Alois Reiser, Ralph Reiser and Rudy Reiser.
A vigil service with the Knights of Columbus Rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19 at the Bryant Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19 at the Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke’s Hospice or Holy Family School, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

HOLYROOD — Bruce H. Siemsen, 90, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 in Ellsworth, Kan. He was born Aug. 12, 1934 in Holyrood, Kan. to Henry and Leora (Johansen) Siemsen. 

Bruce served in the U.S. Army from July 1956 to July 1958 and the US Army reserve until 1962. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education and taught high school business courses at Lorraine, Kan. and Russell, Kan. high schools. Later he taught at Colby Community College where he was also a decorated girls’ volleyball and track coach. 

Bruce married Donna Millen-Schauvliege in Jetmore, Kan. on March 1, 1986. He was a member of the Holyrood Lions Club, Jaycees, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and the American Legion Post 200 where he often assisted in military funeral honors.

 Bruce is survived by his wife Donna of Holyrood; son Cary Siemsen (Ann) of Olathe, Kan.; daughter Sherri Musselman (Jon) of Slidell, La.; son Bruce G. Siemsen of San Antonio, Texas; step-sons, Kanny Schauvliege (Leslie) of Ashland, Kan., Larry Schauvliege (Julie) of Duncan, Okla., and LeeAllen Schauvliege (Bobbie) of Ensign, Kan.; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; and one step great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Robert Siemsen; and step-grandson Kevin Schauvliege.

Memorial service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ of Holyrood with inurnment and military honors following in the church cemetery.
