Kenneth E. Schreiber

OLMITZ — Kenneth E. Schreiber (Ken, Kenny) of Overland Park, Kan. passed away on Nov. 9, 2024, in Overland Park. Ken had been a lifelong resident of Olmitz, Kan. until his move with his wife to Overland Park in 2019 and had been a parishioner at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz until the move. He married Joan Bahr on Oct. 26, 1960, in Olmitz, and they subsequently adopted two daughters. He was also a member of the armed services, honorably discharging from the Army.

He is survived by his wife of Overland Park, Kan.; his daughters, Carla Schreiber of Independence, Mo. and Gina (Doug) Lindholm of Thornton, Colo.; and five grandsons, Alexander (Alysen) Schreiber of Lenexa, Kan., Christopher (Anna) Lindholm of Westminster, Colo., Dominic Schreiber of Independence, Mo., Joshua (Abbey) Lindholm of Erie, Penn. and Nicholas Lindholm of Thornton, Colo. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Frederick and Margaret (Mauler) Schreiber; and three brothers, Father Paul Schreiber, Melvin Schreiber and Eugene Schreiber; and one sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Pancost.

During his time in Olmitz, Ken was proud to have served as mayor for 12 years. He also faithfully served St Ann’s Parish for many, many years as the treasurer, Easter cantor, a lector and a communion minister. His faith, his civic pride and his love for his family were hallmarks of his life.

During his working years he held various jobs, including driving for Dr Pepper and Frito Lay and working for Dillon’s, but he is most known for the 30-plus years he spent as a salesman at Wells Furniture. He developed many close friendships over his tenure there and found joy in not only selling furniture to his customers over the years, but in many cases their children and grandchildren.

Ken loved his daughters and his grandsons and was an especially excellent grandpa. He loved his wife, Joan, with whom he spent 64 happy years of marriage. He loved KU basketball, Kansas City Royals baseball, Kansas City Chiefs football, but most of all he loved his faith and took comfort in it, especially praying the rosary, as his health worsened
