Kay Eberhart, 75, formerly of Great Bend, died March 30, 2020, at Fernandina Beach, Florida. Arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.

Sister Charlene Eisenbart, 90, died Feb. 18, 2025 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse in Great Bend. She was born Oct. 15, 1934 in Fowler, Kan., the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Gerber) Eisenbart. She entered the Dominican Sisters community in 1952, and pronounced vows in 1955. This year marks her 70th year of religious profession.

Sr. Charlene received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., and a Master’s Degree in Education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. She taught Primary grades in Wichita, LaCrosse, Sharon, Schulte, and Garden City in Kansas, and Westminster in Colorado from 1956-1976. She was a Hospital Chaplain at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Pratt Regional Health Center, St Joseph Memorial Hospital in Larned, and Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend, Kan., and Lutheran Hospital in Denver, Colo., between 1977 and 2011, with a brief time in 1985-1989 when she worked with the Area Council for Alcohol/Drug Services. As well as being a member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, she was also a volunteer at the local Food Bank and loved gardening and working outdoors.

Sr. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Geraldine Dickerson and Shirley Plymale. She is survived by her sister Darlene (Tom) Mahoney of New Castle, Colo., and brother-in-law Dave Plymale of Paonia, Colo., as well as several nieces and a nephew and the Dominican Sisters of Peace.

Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025. Both will be held at the Sisters’ Convent, 3600 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. Burial will be in the Sisters’ Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Sister Charlene may be sent to Dominican Sisters of Peace, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, OH 43219-2098. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
