SALINA — Juanita Ruth (Hamilton) Jeffrey, 96, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. She was born Jan. 25, 1928, in El Dorado, Kan., the daughter of George and Margaret Hamilton.

On Sept. 25, 1946, she married Kenneth Jeffrey in Nickerson, Kan. She graduated from Sidney’s Hairdressing College and owned and operated a hair salon for 15 years. She was a receptionist for her husband’s chiropractor office in Claflin, Kan. for 30 years, retiring Dec. 31, 1999. She has been a resident of Salina since 1995.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina, where she was a past President of the United Methodist Women, a 78 year member of Eastern Star (Past Matron), Daughters of the Nile (Past Queen), Social Order of the Beauseant (Past President), Rebekah Lodge (Past Noble Grand), VFW Auxiliary (Past President), and den mother for Cub Scouts and Brownies.

Juanita loved being with family and friends, to cook, do crafts, especially crochet, and travel. She loved making cookies and planning for family Christmas each year. Juanita loved her family and doing things for them, helping with church dinners, and loved music.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Jeffrey, wife Shirley, of McPherson, Tully Jeffrey and Bonnie, of Claflin, and Troy Jeffrey and Melinda, of Newton; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Bennidetta; and siblings Leslie and Creed.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church, Salina. A private inurnment will be at a later date.
